SIGHT TEST? (Can you see the top letter?)

SIGHT TEST is huge tapestry of a sight test in Braille, 2 metres high and 1 metre across. It is made out of fabric, hand sewn with wool depicting the sight chart, in Braille

A memory from a very early age (4 years old) is going to the hospital and the first thing you’re asked to do is to look at the sight chart, where there is a large top letter, as you read down the chart, the letters decrease in size, and you are asked ‘can you see the top letter?’

No was the answer in my right eye as It deteriorated very quickly over two years. At every hospital visit, I am asked the same question over and over again ‘can you see the top letter?’

Even in my 30s when I started to lose my sight in my left eye, I was still asked ‘can you see the top letter?’

This piece is that sight test but in my artistic language Braille, and just like the the original [Snellen or Logmar charts] the top letter is bigger but as it’s dots the sight test has to be huge to accommodate the decreasing size of the Braille

This image is ingrained into my mind or my eyes which is the window to our souls
