Who I am - Post Haemorrhage

Elizabeth Manuel

The post- haemorrhage painting is a gentle watercolour with almost opaque colours that don’t know what they were going to do like Elizabeth’s life. By this stage physically she was still weak on the left; mostly blind; and suffered with chronic pain and fatigue. She had frequent panic attacks and the emotional dysregulation continued but, a new life had begun to emerge with yoga, mindfulness, painting, cooking. She hadn’t been able to get back to work but she had become a stroke-patient advocate and speaker for disabilklity rights. A further brain scan shows the now permanent damage to her right tempero-parietal area of her brain, and Elizabeth’s quest for a new life is recorded.
