Nighttime Light Show

Samantha Leftwich

“Nighttime Light Show” - a dark brownish black background is separated by a great number of bright yellow, white and some red wiggly lines of light. The lines are more confined in the left bottom corner and then spread out and disperse in proximity to each other as they move across the canvas diagonally to the right. The colour is brighter white in the left corner.

This photo was taken in a car whilst in slow moving traffic at night with the exposure left open for longer. It represents what I see at nighttime when I close my eyes. Even with my eyes closed I see multiple flashing, wiggly lights that dance across my eyes field of vision. I often think I see spiders and bugs scuttling across the walls and floors which aren’t actually there. These bright flashing, wiggly lights can be frustrating when you’ve closed your eyes to fall asleep.
