Parietal/Occipital Artero-Venous malformation (AVM)
Written By Sam Scarles
A brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries (which supply oxygen-rich blood) and veins (which carry deoxygenated blood away) and is located in the brain. These vessels are at risk of rupturing, causing a bleed. Symptoms vary depending on size and location of the bleed, but if the AVM is in the area of the brain that controls vision, this can cause parts of the vision to become missing or full vision loss.
