Hypertensive retinopathy
Hypertensive retinopathy describes the effect of uncontrolled high blood pressure in the eye. High blood pressure damages blood vessels, including those in the retina. The damage means that oxygen is not delivered to the structures at the back of the eye, which can over time lead to problems with vision.
