Workshop - Elizabeth Manuel
In this collaboration, Lindsey showed Elizabeth her original artwork ‘Workshop’. Elizabeth has a condition which causes her to ignore the left side of her vision. Elizabeth created a painting to represent what she sees when she looks directly at Lindsey’s original piece.
Lindsey’s original artwork
Lindsey’s workshop 50 x 50 cm oil on canvas
This painting is a set of Allen keys hanging from a nail on a circular key ring with red fob.
The keys occupy the left of the canvas whilst the right hand side of the painting is largely an empty rough textured wall with hints of shadows in light creamy greys.
The keys emerge from a dark brown rectangular shape in the top left of the painting and are hanging from a nail on a ring with a red fob which lies just off left of centre. Each of the key legs, which are rectangular L-shaped and of varying sizes, are painted loosely and a dark browns and taupes and occupy the centre and lower left of the image.
Elizabeth's interpretation
Elizabeths’s workshop 50 x 50 cm acrylic on canvas
When compared to Lindsey’s original piece, the Allen keys are shifted to the left and the left section of the keys is missing off the side of the canvas, to demonstrate Elizabeth missing the left part of her vision.
